Aggression at work on the rise

11:35 28/08/2014

In a survey of more than 2,000 employees conducted by HR services provider Securex, 16% of workers in Belgium faced some type of aggression at work in 2013.

In more than half the cases, the aggression came from external parties. In a quarter of the cases, the aggression came from one specific colleague, 8% from a group of colleagues and 18% from management.

According to Securex, the results indicate a considerable increase in the number of cases of aggression at work. In a similar survey in 2012, 7% of employees admitted to experiencing aggression in the workplace.

The survey also shows that aggressive behaviour at work is more common in non-commercial service sectors such as education and health.
