20 Brussels events in 2020: #17. Juanjo Guardino

01:01 01/01/2019

You may not know the name but you may well know his series Blacksad, which follows the adventures of PI John Blacksad, a black cat with a white snout, who like all the other animal characters in the series walks on two legs, caught up in the racist world of 1950s New Orleans.

Guardino is an exceptional artist who worked on television series in his native Spain before working for Disney in their Montreuil studios outside Paris. The Blacksad series has been translated into several languages and has a huge following.

Guarnido excels in watercolour drawings and in creating ambiances whether the scene is a dark dank alley or in the bright sunshine of New Orleans.

This exhibition at the Brussels Comic Arts Museum will feature his first pencil sketches up to his completed drawings, giving visitors the opportunity to be carried away by the worlds he creates.

24 March-23 June, Comic Arts Museum
