A year of Brussels events in one book: the 2018 Cultural Guide is out
More than 22,000 events will take place in Brussels next year. Luckily, the Brussels Cultural Guide 2018 Edition has just been published to help you navigate the best things to do.
The comprehensive guide - in Dutch, English and French - lists all the major and many minor events happening in Brussels during the year and is published annually by the Foundation for the Arts.
"The Foundation is a private institution that aims to promote Brussels as a cultural city and to promote culture in Brussels," says Foundation director Guy de Bellefroid. "One of our main activities is to publish this cultural guide."
The book is in three parts. First, there is a chronological part - Brussels month by month. The Foundation’s website lists all 22,000-plus events taking place each year but the book gives a handy overview of the biggest and best events.
The second part is a list of all the performing arts institutions and locations, and other practical information. And the third part is a list, again with all the practical information, for the museums, art centres, cinemas and cultural centres.
New this year is a mobile application allowing users to scan event posters in the street and automatically have all the practical information on their smartphone.
The guide is a handsome publication with engaging graphics and plenty of photographs and illustrations. "It’s a good book with which to discover Brussels for people who don’t know the city," says de Bellefroid. "But it's also for people living here. You can keep it on your coffee table and it also makes a great Christmas gift."
The 260-page guide, priced €10, is available in all the main bookstores in Brussels.
