Working in BE - Living in NL

Question

Hey guys, I hope you may be able to offer some advice?

I currently work in Belgium and reside in NL and have been doing so for nearly 2 years now and pay my full taxes in Belgium,

My question is to do with tax...moreover...is there anyway get around paying 50% tax in Belgium? Are there any reductions or relief available for people who work in one country and live another.

I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Many thanks,

D

Belgium and the NL have a special tax treaty - The Belastindienst website has a lot of good info for these situations. Google "Belastindienst Working in Belgium" and you'll find a page that explains:

"Do you live abroad but do you have income in or from the Netherlands? Or did you not live in the Netherlands for the whole year? In that case, you can opt to be treated as if you have a resident taxpayer status for the whole year. If you use this right of option, you also state your worldwide income in the Netherlands."

My husband is the opposite of you - he works in NL and lives in BE. We had great help from a tax guy in NL who filed everything for us at a reasonable rate - and the savings made up for his fee for sure. His email: frank@aangiftedirect.nl

Good luck!!
