Woman gives birth in Brussels snack bar

A woman gave birth to a baby boy at the weekend in a snack bar on Avenue Joseph Baeck in the Brussels commune of Molenbeek. She promptly named the boy Adam, after the fast food joint where he was born. The owner of the snack bar says that the boy is welcome to come and eat there for the rest of his life free of charge, writes Brusselnieuws.

The owner of Adam Food, Nawfal Ben Messaoud, at first thought his colleague was joking when, around 21.15 on Saturday evening, he told him that there was a woman in labour on the terrace. “But then I went to have a look and saw that it was true,” Ben Messaoud told La Capitale.

The emergency services were alerted immediately, but the baby had been born by the time the ambulance arrived. The snack bar staff surrounded the woman with large posters to give her as much privacy as possible. Both mother and child are reportedly doing well.
