Wilmots happy despite 0-0 draw against Wales

Belgian Red Devils trainer Marc Wilmots is happy with the result of yesterday’s European Championship qualifier match against Wales, which ended in a 0-0 draw. “We had bad luck,” he said, according to fcupdate.nl.

"I saw a lot of good things: pressure up-front, a strong organisation in the back and almost 60% ball possession. But at some point you have to capitalize on your chances," Wilmots told Sporza. Belgium dominated the match, but had a hard time scoring, with Nicolas Lombaerts hitting the post, and Nacer Chadli missing the goal after a face-off with the Wales goalkeeper.

“The boys gave everything, but we had some bad luck... after the break, some were a bit tired. Hazard, for example, was the best man on the field in my opinion, but after 60 minutes he had a hard time,” said Wilmots.

Wilmots also had news about Dries Mertens, who fell to the ground following a hard collision with an opponent. "He was on the field unconscious for one minute, and after that he was taken to hospital. The doctor says that he has a concussion, but will be alright," confirmed Wilmots. Mertens will spend 48 hours in hospital.
