Where to make friends in Liege besides pubs/bars?
Hello, I am a US expat living in Liege. All the people my age (20s) like to go to parties and clubs and drink to socialize. I heard Liege is known for its nightlife. I like people but I'm not into these activities. Any ideas? Also, are there any expat communities in Liege? It seems most are from Brussels...
Thanks!
As a Brusseleer, I'd consider myself an expat in Liege as well. You might find some Italians. On the positive side, you're quite close to Maastricht.
Your options are basically go local or move. Liège is about as expatty as Wolverhampton.
I'm near liege -- I help at a couple of local fortresses and that way have met a good few people -- and they are not all oldies!! Good practice in improving French -- several members speak excellent English. -- send me a message zebedee37atfsmaildotnet if interested. (I can give you a tour round on a weekend just so you can decide whether it is for you or not -- no obligation)
And yes Maastricht is close and loads of foreigners there :-)
Hi, I live in Liege and would to meet anglophones for a chat! I've been here for a year and have a small son, so my time is kept by him. Meaning rather limited.!
But usually I can say Hi some evenings, late afternoons and on the weekends. My French is not exactly stella but I am quite happy to speak and slip up :)
Meeting for coffees during the day is good for me. Or if folks go to the Apero Liege during the summer, this could be fun. The music is terrible.... :)

Hi, we live in Liège province. Would be happy to meet some English speaking people. We just moved from Canada and we miss meeting international people. Everything seems to be happening in Brussels. We are a family so meetup in bars etc. Anyone interested, please send a message.
Cheers, Myriam
Hi, my name is Pascal and Liège is my hometown. I've been working during 15 years for a US Company with frequent travels overseas. I'm now back in Liège, and my wife and I would be very glad to meet british or american citizens (or any other foreigners) living in our city. I also have friends and colleagues that would be happy to socialize with english speakers.
So feel free to contact me ...
Regards,
Pascal
Hi, I'm an Australian/British moving to Liège next week with my family. I am not in my 20's, closer to 40 actually. But we have lived in several countries across a few continents and we would be pleased to meet some English-speaking people in Liège (while I'm learning French! My husband already speaks it as he is Belgian). I'm new to this group and not sure how to contact people who posted that they are happy to be contacted. Send me an email! sing_e@mac.com
Hi,
Any of you still around? I'm Dutch, bilingual (Dutch/English) and doing okay in French. Have lived in the UK and US for many years and moved to Liège recently. I would love to meet some fellow expats.
