where to buy hummus, not of the delhaize kind
Hi,
Does anybody know any place in Brussels where they sell fresh Hummus? I know they sell it at Delhaize but that one has too many added preservatives.
And yes, I know hummus is easy to make as I usually make my own, but my food processor or "robot" as many call it, decided to go on strike and is out to the shop for guarantee repair and I'll have it back in less than a month, hopefully.
In the meantime, I'd like to buy some fresh hummus. Thanks for any info on hummus shops!
Not sure about fresh hummus, but Shanti Grocery Store on Avenue Buyl has prepackaged organic hummus. Also, you can try the markets (i.e. Chatelain on Wednesday afternoon).
Make it yourself... It's so easy: a can of chick peas, tahina, garlic, lemon juice and some water. Put in blender. Season as you like and serve with some olive oil and flat bread. Tadaa!! Keeps in fridge for a few days, and you can freeze it. All ingredients are long life, so you don't even need to worry about a late night craving.
If you are in the Montgomery/Merode/Thieffry region
Try FreshMed
Rue de l'Escadron 35
(Nearest metro stop: Thieffry)
next to Delhaize Express (or whatever it is called now)
Very good selection of Syrian produce
