What's on this week: 20-26 January
ADAM, the Art and Design Atomium Museum, is presenting a show of large-size prints of the work of Belgian photographer Johanne Verbockhaven taken in north-west Iceland on a peninsula that was slowly abandoned, first by its inhabitants in the years following the second world war, and then by the US and the UK when they let their Cold War bases fall into ruin. The photographs raise questions linked to memory and forgetting through the prism of silence, absence and traces. For the first two weeks of the show, Verbockhaven will be working in the ADAM exhibition rooms and producing photos, videos and sounds.
Until 19 March, ADAM, Brussels

Collectors will find pre-Colombian and contemporary tribal art as well as antiques from around the world. There’s also a healthy selection of modern art ranging from paintings to sculptures to photographs to objects. All objects are vetted by Brafa’s team of 100 experts.

During the winter months, the capital’s inner ring is illuminated with colourful light installations at all of the main squares and junctions: giant desk lamps on Luxembourgplein, a disco ball at Poelaertplein. Check the Bright Brussels Winter site for descriptions of all the locations, or just start exploring. And hear our interview with one of the light designers involved on The Bulletin's radio show on 98.8FM in Brussels this Sunday at noon.
