Question

Good morning. Would like a weekend getaway - somewhere a short plane ride away, easy to reach from airport and get around without car rentals being needed, stuff to visit and ambience to take in. What would you suggest?

Check-in time at Zaventem is currently 3 hours before departure and access is only by car or taxi.
In 3 hours by train from Bxl you can easily be in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Koln and into the Rhine gorge and probably several other places which meet your criteria.

I fully agree with the pro-train sentiments but I feel I should point out that the 12 bus to the airport is now running again!

IF you are OK with flying, then I suggest Barcelona. Lots to see, nice vibe, excellent restaurants.
