Waterloo to Schuman

Question

We are considering buying a house in Waterloo. Are there people here going from Waterloo to Schuman? How easy is it to get to Schuman or by other means of public transport? Is there a direct train line? I would appreciate if you could comment on this. Thanks a lot.

R.Harris

Check www.sncb.be to see the train offer. There you will see that, for instance, there is a direct train at 8:22am from Waterloo that gets to Schuman at 8:56am.

But check how close the house is to the station at Waterloo.

It's very easy if you take the train from Braine L'Alleud, I used to take the train everyday to Gare Centrale when I was living in Waterloo . Good luck on your moving :))

There are a lot of people who commute to Schumann from Waterloo. There are hourly direct trains, and if you miss one of the direct trains, all the other trains from Waterloo go through Gare Central, from where you can get a connecting metro to Schumann. The only problem is that the car park in Waterloo (which is currently free) gets full very early in the morning, so unless you're walking to the station, you could have problems. Slightly easier parking at the next stop on the line, Braine l'Alleud (but you have to pay there).

For a commute into Schumann, you could also consider living on the other rail line that heads out towards La Hulpe, Genval, Rixensart and Ottignies Louvain la Neuve.

Trains from Braine l'Alleud are very frequent - not the case from Waterloo!

YTTAP: more trains from B l'A but not direct trains to Schumann.

From Ottignies or Rixensart , you are directly in Schuman in 25 minutes.
Braine l'Alleud is probably much closer from Waterloo but you 'll have to go Gare Centrale > take the metro to schuman (5 walk + 5 minutes transport).
