Water in shower not getting hot enough!
Hi All,
I have a peculiar problem. I have a good boiler. The heaters are working fine. The water in the sinks, basins get enough hot to use in this cold.
But somehow, when I open the shower with full heat ON still the water is not coming hot enough to sustain a bath in the weather. Has anyone faced similar problem? What could be the cause.
TIA.
Most likely is it's the thermostat / mixer tap on your shower.
We had the same problem the last 3 months. The water was hot everywhere except in the shower. It became colder and colder and finally it was unbearable. It took 30 minutes and 70 euro for my husband to buy a new shower from Brico and to replace it:). It was eroded where the shower gets connected to the battery from the calcium and the years of use.
I had this problem a while ago. You could try descaling the shower head and the pipe by soaking them in boiling vinegar. It will get rid of any limescale that has built up inside. It worked for me!
Sometimes if you use a water saving showerhead, it is possible that the flow is not enough to induce the boiler to go hot enough , to test this , put open the hotwater tap on the basin and also open the shower tap full hot , if the shower is not as hot as the tap the problem is in the thermomixer of the shower.
I had the same problem. It was the thermostat (safety feature). plumber told me they are not a good idea in hard water areas as the calc destroys them. I replaced the shower tap with an ordinary one and it solved the problem.
