If you are a Belgian national and applied on line, it should be a formality unless you responded to a question in an unacceptable way. If you have been convicted of something, moral turpitude, drugs, refused entry before, then you will have a problem. Contact the US embassy but it may not be easy given the Esta was refused.

Ignore above, I read your post on another group about why your esta was refused which was none of above. Just contact the us embassy phone line for information on waiting times. No one is this group is likely to work for visa services of us embassy so unlikely to be able to answeri.

@Shortof. You do seem to suffer from an irony deficiency. I don't think anyone has ever applied for an ESTA and admitted to moral turpitude, even though I believe that it is still a question. EYEBICYCLE was simply ridiculing Trump.

You have now provided important additional info about it being travel history. This could certainly cause problems. You are correct that we are not experts here and the only way to get an answer is indeed to call the US Embassy.

If ESTA is refused then you need to apply for a B2 visa. It takes like a week for visa issuance once you clear the interview. All details are there on the State department website:

Hi Sial Kashmir. It seems you are not alone. In today’s Times of London newspaper it reports that Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s partner, Carrie Symonds, has been banned from entering the USA because she did some charity work in Somalia and Somaliland last year. The US does not recognise Somaliland.
