TV shows dominate Belgium's most widely used Twitter hashtags of 2015

According to Twitter's annual report of trending topics around the world, the most popular hashtag in Belgium this year is #KCA, which stands for Kids Choice Awards, an annual awards show on Nickelodeon. This is followed by #MTVHottest and #football.

In fourth place in Belgium is the hashtag for another popular television programme, #k3zoektk3. In fifth place is #jobs, a hot topic globally. Finally, politics and current events complete the top ten in Belgium, with the hashtags #CharlieHebdo, #JeSuisCharlie, #Brussels, #EU and #greece.

Belgium makes the list of the world's most widely used social movement hashtags in 2015, with #BrusselsLockDown at number eight. The tag was used by many to respond to the increased terror threat level, which quickly became synonymous with the mass sharing of cat photos.
