TreinTramBus 'relieved' over SNCB rate increase

Public transport passengers' association TreinTramBus is 'relieved' after the Belgian rail authority SNCB announced it will increase its rates by an average of 1.21% from 1 February, 2016. "It's just indexation, not the big bang we had feared," says spokesman Jan Vanseveren.

TreinTramBus is less pleased, however, with the SNCB's plans to implement a price increase of 3.31% on the Campus Card for students. "With this price increase, SNCB is targeting a group that does not always have a lot of financial resources," says Vanseveren.
