Travel on ID Card?

Question

I am a non-EU citizen with a Belgian permanent residence (ID) card. Is it possible to travel to the UK (and back!) using only my Belgian ID card? I won't have my passport as it will be in for renewal.

As many time answered on this Q&A what you call your "Belgian ID card" (only delivered to real Belgian Citizen) is your Residence Permit that allow non-Belgians to reside in Belgium for more than 3 months.
Your Residence Permit has no value outside Belgium

I have a card similar to the one mentioned but retain my British nationality. I cannot travel abroad without my British passport. Only Belgians are allowed to travel with this ID and the authorities can tell immediately if you have Belgian nationality or not. You need an international passport from your country of origin
