14:51 22/06/2015

An auction of Tintin comic books and collector items on Sunday in Brussels yielded €135,000. One of the highlights was the first edition of the album 'The Blue Lotus' (picturedi) from 1946, in mint condition, for which the new owner laid down €7,000. The album ‘Crab With the Golden Claws’ sold for €3,000. The auction took place at auction house Galerie Moderne in Ixelles.

In addition to the numerous albums, there were also figurines and other accessories of the cartoon hero up for auction. Tintin, a creation of the Belgian artist and writer Hergé (1907-1983) is still very popular, as evidenced by the fact that 85% of the items were sold on Sunday.

Interested buyers could bring a bid out online, over the phone or in person. The auction house had previously reported a total revenue of €100,000, but the final amount turned out to be higher.
