Thousands flock to the Bourse for Brussels' Colours

07:57 01/02/2016

The pedestrian area around Place de la Bourse on Saturday filled with about 7,000 people during the first Brussels' Colours event, a celebration of all things Brussels, including food and drink, music and a colourful parade, writes Brusselnieuws.be. The free event was organised by the City of Brussels to highlight the city's cultural richness and diversity.

The celebration began in the early evening with entertainment for children at Beursschouwburg, Brussels' multidisciplinary arts centre, while DJ Stijn provided musical entertainment.

Outside, visitors feasted on typical Brussels fare, stoemp saucisse from star restaurant Comme Chez Soi, and quaffed beer from Brussels Beer Project. Place de la Bourse was packed with people by the evening for a concert by Brussels band Puggy, followed by performances by Jali, Emma Bale, Hyphen Hyphen, Nicola Testa and Lange Jojo.

In addition to live music, entertainment was provided by local celebrities giving their opinions about the city they love, including singer Marie Daulne, designer Edouard Vermeulen, comedian Bert Kruismans and actor Mourad Zeguendi.

The main festivities aired live on TV Brussel. Afterwards, DJ Saucisse kept the crowd going until midnight, and a Leftorium after-party continued into the wee hours at Beursschouwburg.
