Thomas Cook/Neckermann travel agencies reopen

20:20 20/10/2019

Some 62 travel agencies operating under the Thomas Cook/Neckermann brand will reopen their doors on Monday, after being rescued from potential bankruptcy.

Spanish tour operator Wamos bought the travel shops earlier this month, saving 200 jobs that were under threat when Thomas Cook applied for bankruptcy protection in Belgium last month.

The travel agencies will sell packages, hotel bookings, airline tickets and tours from other providers such as Corendon, Pegase, Club Med and MisterFly. The neckermann.be website is due to reopen "in a few days", Wamos Benelux commercial director Frédéric Van Waeijenberge said.

Thomas Cook Belgium cancelled all of its package holidays and flights in late September, after its British parent company filed for bankruptcy, leaving thousands of passengers stranded at holiday destinations around the world.
