tenancy to move out asap

Question

my landlord decided to rent the whole building while I am in yearly rent for the half of it ending 31/8.
what are the regulations to that, what to expect and what should I do?
I have already started to look for a new apartment but it takes too much from the time I don't have.
any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a contract?

OK assuming that you have a valid contract, you stay until 31/8, then you leave.

It's not totally clear what you mean by "yearly rent". Do you mean you have a one-year short-term rental contract which started on 1 September 2017 and ends on 31 August 2018? A lot depends on the answer to this.

A lot also depends on the actual wording of the contract. It may well be that the landlord would have to give you three months clear notice even to determine the contract on 31 August, and if he doesn't the contract will roll over either as a fixed term contract for a further twelve months or as a nine-year contract backdated to the start of your current lease.

You can ask a notaire/notaris for advice which is free. They only charge if and when documents are drawn up.

What do you mean rent the whole building? Is it they are letting someone else take over the whole building or moving themselves in? That maybmake a differnce. I’d ask a notaire buf either way look now and the fact is there is often lots of property available and its usally not too hard to find something

thank you all for your answers. I'll go to a notaris as Becasse said.
even if I started to look for apartment I will stay as long as the landlord doesn't sent me a notice earlier. it's one year contract and if there is no action taken will automatically go to nine years.
thank you all for your time.
