Temporary recruitment market still shrinking

11:06 27/03/2013

Temping agencies in Belgium struggled with falling client demand last year and research shows that the slowdown in the temporary recruitment market continued into this year, reports Staffing Industry. Demand for workers is still not as strong as a year ago, according to data from the Belgian federation of recruitment agencies. With GDP growth estimated to remain modest this year, the Belgian recruitment industry is expected to grow slightly after a decline last year. However, last month, temporary staff worked fewer hours compared to the same period last year: a fall of 6.38%. In January, the annual rate of decline was slightly lower at 5%. Blue-collar workers were particularly hit by the downturn, seeing a 10.99% fall in activity levels last month. White-collar workers posted an increase of 0.02%.
