Tax Employment Question

Question

Hi All, - I have been made redundant here in Belgium but I have been able to find another job quickly but it is based in the UK (UK Contract). So for a year I will be commuting to the UK while my family stay here. I had a short meeting with Deloitte who have said that I will be subject to double taxation for any workdays I have out of the UK. (Eg Belgium / France etc). Also that there is a new implemented local tax that I would need to find out details with my Gemeente / Commune. Pretty scary stuff and absolutely sure what they are saying is correct. But does anyone have personal experience or information how much this is going to cost. Belgium is a country of compromise so I am hoping there is a solution out there that avoids a double /triple whammy. Cheers

J

Is it a permanent contract where you are an employee of the UK company, working and getting paid in the UK?
.
If so, ring the inland revenue and get advice from them. They are quite good on cross border workers - it happens a lot in Northern Ireland.
.
Take their advice first, and work out how much of what Deloitte said is shite for yourself.
