Before the jokesters come out, let me just quickly add, I understand that you need to wear something...

Caps are optional if you have no hair.
Swimwear (as in something exclusively used in a pool) is compulsory.

In my experience, the rules are specific to each pool, and are also interpreted differently everywhere. You need to look up the rules individually. e.g. some pools require everyone to wear a swim cap (even people with no hair); others don't. Most pools say "shorts" are not allowed, but no pool actually defines what is acceptable.

Hi,
Cap can be compulsory or not (I saw on the link below that in Brussels pools you need a swimming cap in Antwerp normally not). It depends on the pool, some pools allow just to tie your long hair. For females one or two piece swimwear and for males mostly briefs or short swim-pants are allowed, in most of the pools male trunks, or longer swim-pants are not allowed. Easiest to figure out is to find the pool's website and read their rules as they can differ a bit.

For Brussels you can also find plenty of info here (if you are talking about City-pools and not private ones) : https://www.brussel.be/zwembaden

Rules are not always specific to each pool, though indeed you are best check each individual pool.
Rules depend on whether a pool is public or private.
Rules depend on whether a pool is in Brussels, Wallonie, or Vlaanderen regions.
I know of NO pool in Belgium which obliges males to wear only speedos.
Caps must be worn in all public pools Brussels and Wallonie.
Rules on caps in private pools in Brussels and Wallonie depend on the owners. Rules on caps in all pools in Vlaanderen depend on the owners / administrators.

In Sportcity at WSP, swim caps are obligatory.

Of course swim caps are obligatory at Sportcity as it is a public pool in Brussels region! Swim caps or obligatory at all public pools in Brussels.

I'd rarely disagree with Shortof, but on this occasion, it's not quite that simple I'm afraid!!!

Calypso (1170 - Bruxelles) is a public pool, but swim caps are only required if you have "mid-length" or "long hair."

"Bonnet obligatoire (cheveux mi-longs et longs)"
