How could somebody possibly know this out here. It may even vary between the different hospitals here in Belgium. I would suggest that you contact a few hospitals directly or ask a surgeon who practices in Belgium.

Better yet, and on the assumption that what you really want to know is how much YOU are going to have to pay, ask your mutuelle. Or start with your family doctor.

I would but they've still not given me an appointment with the specialist. The doctor in the ER had no idea. I don't have a family doctor here because Ive not lived long enough here.

Suggest you check out Dr. Pierre Maldague who works at Clinique Léopold and who is a foot and ankle specialist. He is also a surgeon.

You can have a GP from about 5 minutes after arriving in Belgium.
Pick up the phone and do your own research and own appointment bookings too.

Who's paying? If you have mutuelle with top up (hospitalization) insurance, it doesn't matter - they pay.
If you are paying or you have ordinary mutuelle, then make sure you do to a public hospital, and do not name a surgeon or specialist. This way you keep costs down.

Either way, you are fully entitled to ask the hospital for an estimate of costs before you are admitted.4
