Thundery showers forecast in Belgium on Thursday - IRM
17:23 18/05/2022

Thundery showers are expected in the west and centre of Belgium early on Thursday, the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) announced on Wednesday.

The stormy showers are due to shift towards the east of the country during the afternoon.

Dry weather with sunny spells will then return to the west during the afternoon, before spreading to other regions in the evening.

The maximum temperature will vary between 18°C by the sea, 23°C in De Kempen (Antwerp province) and 25°C in Gaume, south of the country.

On Saturday, the weather will be generally dry with sunny periods and cloudy periods. A light rain shower is possible in the north of the country. Maximum temperatures will vary between 17 and 21°C with a generally moderate westerly wind.

The brief rain showers due on Thursday follow a lengthy period of dry weather. Belgium has experienced a historically dry spring with regions putting in place preventative drought measures.
