Stib to launch Tintin tram and travel cards
Brussels public transport operator Stib is producing a range of Tintin-themed travel cards this summer - and will also unveil a Tintin tram.
A limited series of 100,000 Mobib cards depicting several Hergé characters go on sale on 25 July, in collaboration with the Hergé Foundation.
Five different cards are available to passengers: Tintin (orange), Captain Haddock (blue), Castafiore (pink), Thomson and Thompson (red), and Professor Tournesol (green). The tram museum on Avenue de Tervuren will also be selling a collector's case.
STIB chief executive Brieuc de Meeûs said: "There has always been a strong connection between Hergé and our capital. We will undoubtedly attract many collectors and fans of the character."
As part of the collaboration, the Stib has also adorned one of its trams (on lines 93/94) with Tintin’s image on a sky blue background.
The Tintin Mobib cards will be available from Bootik and Kiosk ticket offices, and also from visit.brussels, at a price of €19 euros including 10 journeys.
