Stadium announcer helps goalkeeper save penalty
A stadium announcer for Belgian fifth division side Deux-Acren more than earned his pay after he helped the home side’s goalkeeper save a penalty by telling him where to dive, writes London’s Metro. The hosts were in danger of losing to Walhain last Sunday after they gave away a penalty in the second half, but the announcer came to the rescue when he told the keeper where the spot kick was heading. Just before the kick the words “Jo! Main gauche!”(“Jo! Go left!”) boomed out of the speakers. The Walhain player then proceeded to take the penalty and, as the announcer predicted, the shot went to the goalie’s left. The stopper listened to the advice given and saved the shot. The saved penalty can be seen here after 31’10”.
