Square Ambiorix
Dear all, I'm moving to Brussels in July and will be working near Montgomery. I've seen a Duplex near square Ambiorix and fell IN LOVE with it
Could you tell me whether this area is safe? I mean crime wise. FYI I live in Argentina where you are killed for a cellphone or a pair of sneakers or you are raped and killed and thrown in a garbage bag. This is the kind of crime I want to avoid
It's a bit quiet (which does mean there are generally not many people around at night, though I've never had any problems walking home) but pretty safe. The parts of Schaerbeek and St Josse that it borders are a little rough around the edges but certainly aren't 'no go' areas (and have plenty of options for grocery shopping).
Yes, it's safe.
Super safe. It's hard to find really unsafe areas in Brussels.
Yep, is a very safe area, and you have many shops nearby; also, place Jourday has a market on Sundays, and that's within walking distance. Great location for buses, and within walking distance to the airport bus. Not to mention close to cinquantenaire if you like to go running/jogging in the park. Is a very safe location and convenient too. Is it seriously that bad in Argentina? Thought Venezuela was the dangerous place to go to.
Hi as a rule it's much safer in Belgium full stop terrorist nuts aside. Certainly walking about day or night crime isn't a big issue in most parts. Howver as anywhere don't flaunt your phone or goods in public areas just normal common sense. Good luck
My apartment is looking Square Ambiorix and I think honestly it's one of the safest areas in Brussels. There is a police station near by, the park is well lit and I see several people jogging there late at night or people walking alone. In general there is a lot of 'traffic' around there, both people and cars, so I'd say it's very safe. I also take out my dog there every evening and I've never felt unsafe.
On the whole it's a safe area. However, I have seen many cars with side windows broken obviously done by thieves looking for something of value inside.
I have never seen any cars broken into at square Ambiorix, so I wouldn't say that is a common occurence
