Solia Duo - CD Release
Airs and songs from Wallonia
Raquel Gigot, on the accordion, and Marielle Vancamp, on the nyckelharpa, make up the Solia Duo. In this partnership, both musicians have decided to honor the Walloon traditional airs and songs.
Wallonia is well known for its landscapes, its gastronomy, its cultural sites, its architecture… but very little for its music. In fact, Wallonia possesses a rich musical heritage, to be found in its manuscripts, its libraries, its attics, on old records and recordings. Its music has been the object of collections, of research.
Solia’s aim is to make these musical treasures known, in an up to date manner, by rearranging them, modernizing them, or by using them as inspirations for its own compositions. Of course, this work is accomplished while staying firmly anchored in the musical tradition.
