social allowance for "self-employed unemployed"?
Hello,
I am self-employed and looking for advice regarding possible social subsidies
From 2 months already I am not working anymore for my previous boss, I have been looking for a new job since then, but for the moment with no success. I am also happy to be pregnant, but I am starting to get concerned, as in some months I will be in more advanced stage of my pregnancy. At one moment I will not be able to work, and thus I would like to get to know what are the possibilities of getting social allowances for "self-employed unemployed", and whether it will make sense to keep my status of self-employed, or maybe rather it is better to put it on hold or stop. I was already informed that it is important, as it may interfere with getting benefits from health insurance during the maternal leave.
Thank you in advance for help
Ooh dear. Not an easy situation.
1. Your previous boss is YOU. You know - the "self" in "self-employed".
2. Putting your status on "stop" may not be an option if you've not been an employee in the past few years.
3. Normally, you don't get pregnant outside a relationship. Your partner's income may count for something.
4. No point in me guessing at the rest really. Just go down to your local dole office and see what advice they can give you.
Self-employed people do not get unemployment benefits. Unless you worked as an employee before, and you meet certain criteria. Check with your union if you meet the necessary criteria. More here (in Dutch) http://www.ikbenzelfstandige.be/sociaal-statuut/specifieke-situaties/wer...
