Snow warning for start of half-term holidays

22:52 08/02/2018

Belgium's federal employment minister Kris Peeters has advised employees to work from home on Friday, as snow is forecast across the country, potentially disrupting the start of the half-term getaway.

Peeters said employees had a right to work from home "in case of extreme weather conditions". The Royal Meteorological Institute forecasts between 2cm and 5cm of snow in Brussels, Antwerp, Hainaut province and in West and East Flanders. Elsewhere, up to 3cm is expected.

The Flemish Traffic Centre says road conditions will be hazardous and drivers should use public transport where possible. Brussels Airport is expecting delays, on the first day of the Carnival school holidays.
