Belgian amusement parks on Tuesday took home six prizes during the 4th European Star Awards. The event is an initiative of the leading European trade magazine Kirmes & Park Revue, writes Het Laatste Nieuws. Three Plopsa parks were among the winners.

The European Star Awards are given out annually to amusement parks that show exceptional performance, as determined by a jury of 33 independent experts from the sector.

Plopsaland in De Panne, West Flanders, clinched second place in the category “Europe's Best Family Parks". For the attraction 'Big Wave', Plopsaland came in sixth place in the category "Europe's Best Family Rides". Plopsaqua De Panne (pictured) took home a prize for eighth place in the category "Europe's Best Water Parks".

First prize in the category "Europe's Best New Attractions" went to 'The Forbidden Caves' in Bobbejaanland, located in Lichtaart, Antwerp province. And Bobbejaanlaand's 'Sledgehammer' placed fifth in the category "Europe's Best Attractions".

The popular Belgian amusement park Walibi was not forgotten, winning eighth place in the category "Europe's Best Dark Rides" for its 'Challenge of Tutankhamon' attraction.
