Situation at Zaventem airport
hi all,
What is the situation currently at Zaventem airport. Is it possible to take most flights, is it possibly to go through the departure hall with the check in counters. All I know so far is that you have to arrive 3 hours early and can only come by car and taxi?(please deconfirm if I am wrong)
Anybody's been there recently who can shed some lights on what it looks like there
Thank you in advance
It depends if the terrorists are at work again, otherwise known as air traffic controllers.
Mike1300GT I think in the circumstances that remark is not appropriate. I realise we all need a sense of humour in life but that is not really a joke I think is funny.
B I understand it's pretty quiet and I believe people are being asked to come very early and that they are moved through pretty fast for a remark someone at school made.
I don't care what you think, CC_R. Sorry. The reason we have so many strikes by air traffic controllers is directly linked to the reasons the bombing terrorists targeted the airport. As far as I am concerned, the air traffic controllers are terrorists that don't need to bomb the airport to get their way, they just shut it down by calling in sick.
I have an 8pm flight so will post what I find, if it helps by then.
The departures hall is not open, but there are temporary check-ins. Three hours ahead is indeed advised as it's slower than it once was. If you are being dropped off, the driver has to enter a parking area, you cannot be dropped off outside the departures hall. but there are signs to show you the way.
There is also a bus, I believe, from North Station. Or, if you don't mind a 2k walk, you can take the train to the Zaventem station.
According to SNCB (I haven't been there myself), there is a free De Lijn bus between Zaventem station and the airport.

Mike1300GT..your ignorance of the difference between industrial actions and the massacre of the public is sad
