Seven Belgians still missing in Nepal

11:59 30/04/2015

The Belgian Foreign Affairs office was still without news as to the fate of seven Belgians following last Saturday’s earthquake in Nepal, according to a statement released on Wednesday evening.

Earlier on Wednesday, the figure of missing Belgians had stood at 25, but the number was significantly reduced following contacts established betweeen the ministry’s crisis centre and families and acquaintances, stated foreign affairs spokesperson Michael Mareel.

The crisis centre will continue in its search for the missing Belgians today.

@ Mikek1300gt: I can imagine that a small country like Nepal keeps a database on all foreigners entering the country. The Belgians authorities would just have to ask...
I can also imagine that those Belgians still "missing" may not want to be found by the Belgian authorities.

So Nepal can immediately tell the Belgians how many of their kin are in the country at a time of crisis? The control freaks (the Belgians, police officers knocking on doors) can't actually do what they think they can and never will do. For instance, the Belgians think I still live in Belgium. It's all official and a police officer even visited.......
