Sending money to my Belgian Bank Account

Question

I have the possibility to move back to the US for my job. My partner would stay in Belgium for the rest of his contract. We own a home together. I would need to send him money every month to cover my part of the house. I will fully pay taxes in the US. Will this money be seen as a gift to my partner or can I pay my own mortgage loan without worrying about it as the money will not go to him, but into my account and back out for the payment. I'm asking Deloitte next week, but just trying to do research and have an idea beforehand.

best

I do not believe that re-paying your mortgage should cause any problem. But Deloitte will probably have the final answer to that.

It's not earned, it's not income, and it's to pay off a mortgage on a property that you own, so no, it's not going to be taxed.
