sending items to turkey

Question

I want to send something to a family member in turkey. It's a personal item. Not of great monetary value but important to the recipient. Whats the safest way to send it? Doesn't need to be a fast delivery as long as it gets there safely. Can I pay taxes and duties in advance if necessary rather than have the recipient pay?

Send it registered mail by the post office, with insurance. Goods guaranteed with confirmation of receipt with date of delivery and signature of receiver.

I agree with Anon. Bpost is the best - simplest and cheapest. Tracking (registered) is about €5 bucks extra.
