Secretary of State Clinton in last official Brussels visit

11:19 04/12/2012

American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Brussels yesterday for what is her last official European jaunt in her current function. For this 38th European visit, Clinton was greeted at the airport by American ambassador Howard Gutman. She will take part, today and tomorrow, in a summit of foreign ministers of NATO countries. Pressing issues on the agenda include Syria, Afghanistan, the Balkans, as well as the state of the alliance with Russia and Georgia. Last night she held talks with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar (pictured) and military chief General Ashfaq Kayani at the US ambassador’s residence. Clinton leaves her post in January, with Susan Rice, currently ambassador to the UN, hotly tipped to take over.
