Second Michelin star for La Paix in Anderlecht

21:38 19/11/2018

The head chef at Anderlecht restaurant La Paix has won a second Michelin star - just two weeks after being named chef of the year by rival guide Gault&Millau.

The 2019 Michelin Guide sees two Belgian chefs pick up a second star: La Paix's David Martin and Maxime Collard at La Table de Maxime in Paliseul, Luxembourg province.

With the planned closure of three-starred Hertog Jan in Zedelgem next month, Belgium now only has one three-starred restaurant: Hof Van Cleve in Kruishoutem.

Chefs at six restaurants in Belgium - three in Wallonia and three in Flanders - won a Michelin star for the first time in the awards ceremony announced at Flanders Expo in Ghent this week.

The Walloon restaurants entering the 2019 Michelin guide are La Plage d’Amée (Jambes), La Ligne Rouge (Plancenoit) and Little Paris (Waterloo).

Flanders' new one-starred restaurants are EED (Leuven) and Nathan and Franq, both in Antwerp.
