School Play

Question

Any ideas where one can get supplies to create props, scenery and costumes for a school play (small and on a budget)?

Thanks a lot!

It's very difficult here on a budget! In my experience, depending on your dead-line, one has to save (or beg or borrow) Ikea furniture cardboard packaging, left-over paint, and adapt old clothes and take your time over it using a huge dollop of creativity! Otherwise, shops like Creatine, Ava and Schleiper are full of marvellous materials but the bill adds up very quickly! The more people you can involve the better; you'd be surprised how many people have craft material stashes in their attics! Good luck!

Parents. You'd be amazed what junk can turn up when you ask for it.

You can often find props and scenery at your local container park; just ask them. Might need a wash, a wipe or a lick of paint. Sometimes they have tins of paint. For costume materials (and if you are handing with a sewing machine) see if your neighbours have some old clothes. Also contact manufacturers if they have any left overs you could use. Ask DS Smith Packaging if they have any cardboard you can use for props. Tel. 09 255 14 61 Email gent@dssmithpackaging.com Website : www.dssmithpackaging.com You can use cardboard for costumes (fasten the cardboard with some string or shoe laces.

You can also collect boxes and packaging materials from shops.

Also contact hyssop54 who posted the advert about disposal of used clothing, too old or damaged to donate to charity'. Old clothing can be used for stuffing.

Also contact heathiie (posted an advert to dispose of old couches.).

Also look in the koopjeskrant online newspaper.
