San Francisco Accommodation
We stayed in the Beresford Arms recently. It's very near Union Square. It's abit "character", the furnishings ra enot reallyto my taste, and It gets some bad reviews but I found it very good value and very well-situated. There's a parking garage just round the corner so you don't have to leave the car on the street. You have a kitchenette so you can get takeaway food if you want to save cash. I liked the free cheese and wine sessions in the late afternoon - nice to chat and pick up tips on what to see.
By the way if you want to go to ALcatraz (which is very interesting), book as soon as possible. It can get sold out very far in advance.
