Ryanair lovely Ryanair
Monday 2nd April afternoon I (and my 2 small children) was going to fly Charleroi-Barcelona (yes, lovely Ryanair!). We had 4 hours delay, during which other flights were being cancelled due to the air traffic controllers strike in France. Finally, at 23.30, my flight was cancelled too. We were told that it was also because of that strike, and that we could go on the Rynair website to either receive a reimbursement or book a new flight. So I got home and looked at booking another flight with Ryanair, but there was nothing available until Saturday (not even to other 'neighbouring' cities). So finally I decided to book a flight for Wednesday 4th with Brussels Airlines.
On the Ryanair website, my flight is not in the list of flights cancelled due to the strike (http://www.ryanair.com/en/notices/gops/120402-FRStrike_EN_-GB), so I can´t request the refund online as I was told. Today I receive an e-mail from Ryanair apologising because my flight was delayed for 23h and with a letter that I can present to my travel insurance company to submit a claim. Nobody had told us the flight would go the day after, they had said that they were fully booked for a few days, and it was true on the website.
I feel totally powerless, who can give good and efficient advice?
Thank for reading this, and for any constructive advice.
If you booked with a credit card (Visa or Mastercard), you could submit a reimbursement claim (your bank can give you the right form) for a service that you paid for but has not been delivered. This is probably the fastest way.
Otherwise, check on this page of your passenger rights and where to complain:
