Royal Athenee Maurice Careme - How is this school

Question

Hello,

Can some one tell me how the school Royal Athenee Maurice Careme at Wavre is? I am planning to move my 6 year old daughter to a French primarie school that also provides English immersion. She went to a French school till Maternelle 2 and to an international school for the last one year. We are at present living in Brussels but have plans to move to the Wallon region - La Hulpe/Rixensart/Overijse etc. And when I looked around for schools in that region, I came across this school and from what I see on their web site, they do have English Immersion since 2007. It would be really helpful if someone can tell me more about this school.

Another question is, I heard that a new directive from the French Education department mandates that all schools should start an English Immersion programme from M3 starting Sept 2012. Is this correct?

Any feedback is highly appreciated.

Regards

I

Can your daughter speaker English? I'm asking as your daughter will be going into either 1ere or 1eme primaire in September, this school starts immersion in 3eme maternelle, so ideally she would need to be at the same level as the children in the class. If she is already fluent in spoken English, then it may not be worth sending her there, if she has very little English at all, she might be behind the other children? Have you contacted the school to see if there is even a place? English immersion is immensely popular, I certainly wouldn't even think about moving before knowing if there were a school place.
.
The school intake is not so "affluent" at this school, compared to other schools in Wavre, though I don't know Wavre at all. At secondary level, there are 2 secondaries out of 7 which are consistently oversubscribed and ARMC is not one of them, though again as I don't know Wavre, I don't know how significant this is.
.
I don't know where you heard that all French Community schools should start English immersion from 3eme maternelle, that is completely incorrect, otherwise our children would be doing it!
