Belgians will spend on average €25 on football merchandise for the 2018 World Cup, according to a survey by the ING bank, published on Wednesday. Regional figures showed that Walloons spent the most, €35, compared to €15 in Flanders.

Around the world, football fans in Brazil (€60 on average) and Portugal (€51) were the highest spenders.

Among the Belgians surveyed, 11% said they spent more than usual on snacks (pizza, potato crisps, hamburgers). One in ten Belgians said they would be willing to donate 1% of their annual income in return for World Cup victory. Argentinians topped this ranking at 41%.
