Brussels arts centre Recyclart will be allowed to stay in its new temporary home in Molenbeek for at least three years, after being forced to leave its central Brussels location.

Recyclart had put on concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events under Brussels-Chapelle rail station for 20 years. Its lease was not renewed because the location did not meet fire safety requirements.

The Brussels region recently bought a 4,000m² empty building on Rue de Manchester and agreed to rent it out to Recyclart earlier this year.

The space is in the same neighbourhood as other cultural players, including Cinemamaximiliaan, which organises movies and other events for migrants and immigrants, VK concert hall and the Brussels location for Charleroi Danse.

It has now been confirmed that Recyclart can stay there for three to four years, while it waits to be able to return to its old home.
