Record edition for Brussels Motor Show

12:55 26/01/2015

The Brussels Motor Show closed out its 93rd edition yesterday with an estimated 427,000 visitors, a record for the ‘small’ show which features light commercial, recreational vehicles and motorcycles, announced Joost Kaesemans of organiser FEBIAC. The previous record dates back to 2013, when 385,000 people attended the small show, reports Het Laatste Nieuws.

This year’s edition treated visitors to seven world premieres and 15 European premieres, Kaesemans explained. Many visitors were also drawn to special attractions such as the Dream Cars exhibition, which attracted about 40,000 car enthusiasts. The wintry but not extreme weather conditions of the past week also contributed to the high visitor numbers.

"While there were less visitors for the 'big' car and engine room in 2014, this year there were more visitors for the 'small' room,” said Kaesemans. “So if you put the two shows together, you arrive at a total of 1 million visitors for the two editions, and that's just mind-boggling."
