Rare Titan Arum flower blooms again

13:47 08/03/2016

One of the two Titan Arums at Belgium's National Botanic Garden in Meise is in bloom again. The rare event traditionally draws a great amount of public interest, in spite of the disgusting smell the plant gives off for about 72 hours after blossoming. The Titan Arum this year reached a height of 145 cm.

When the so-called 'corpse flower' showed the first signs of flowering today at noon, the Botanic Garden announced that it will stay open until 21.00 for the next three days, writes De Morgen. The last times the Titan Arum bloomed were in 2008, 2011 and 2013.

Fans are invited to follow the latest developments on the National Botanic Garden Facebook page.
