Rail unions and SNCB to reconvene Monday as strike continues

17:53 29/05/2016

Still, no agreement has been reached between the unions of the French-speaking rail personnel and Belgian rail companies SNCB and Infrabel. The spontaneous strike began last Wednesday due to a dispute over labour conditions. Emergency meetings held on Thursday and Friday offered no solution, and a new meeting is therefore scheduled for Monday.

Regardless of the outcome of Monday's meeting, hinder to the Belgian rail network is expected to continue at least through Tuesday, warned Chris Reniers of the socialist civil service union ACOD. She then added that the unions would resign themselves to possible penalties for the unannounced strike, provided that it is done correctly, writes De Standaard.

SNCB recommends that rail passengers on Monday take into account possible disrupted train traffic as a result of the ongoing strike action, and follow the latest updates via the website, Twitter or Facebook.
