Rail services are due to return to normal next Monday after last weekend's derailment near Leuven in which one passenger died and 19 were injured, rail operator Infrabel has confirmed.
Repair works on the busy Brussels-to-Liège line through Leuven are being carried out in stages, with 300m of rails, overhead cables and signalling equipment needing to be replaced.
Safety tests will be carried out on the new stretch of track on Sunday ahead of a return to normal on 27 February, an Infrabel spokesman said.
An investigation by Leuven prosecutors into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
