Prime Minister Michel to meet with Pope Francis
Belgian Prime minister Charles Michel (MR) will meet with Pope Francis next Tuesday, November 25 in Strasbourg, in the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of Europe.
Since November 1, Belgium took over the six-month chairmanship of the Council of Europe. The Council brings together a total of 47 countries, including the 28 EU Member States, and serves as a watchdog for fundamental rights, good governance and human rights.
Michel will welcome Pope Francis on his official visit to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, where the Council is seated. After the meeting, which will take place in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Board and the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, the Pope is expected to make a speech.
