Primary Schools in La Hulpe

Question

Hello,

I would need some help about primary schools in La Hulpe, especially, Ecole Notre Dame and Ecole Colibris. Any one has experience with these schools?

We are considering getting our 2 kids into one of these schools - P2 and M1 - and unable to decide. We have visited both the schools. I liked the after school activities available at Colibris, especially the music school. However, I could not get any particular feeling about how well the schools (teaching, discipline, exposure, over-all development of kids etc) are? I would really appreciate to get any feedback from any one of you that have or had kids in one of those two schools.

Best Regards

The music academy is separate from les Colibris, don't let that influence your choice as you can go there, irrelevant of which fondamentale attended.

Do you have places?

Size?
Lunch time activities?
Amount of Dutch taught?
Garderie charges and opening times?
Amount of sport, how many hours of gym or swimming per week?
Outings?

Hello Winterlover,

Thanks for your response. Size of the class is more or less the same in both schools. I visited both the schools and both seemed more or less same. May be I should visit the schools again. I hope to be able to talk to someone whose kids go to one of these two.....

But it's pointless talking to just 1 parent from each school. You're unlikely to find many parents whose children have gone to both. You should never take 1 parent's views to chose, their views are too personal, you can only get a more rounded picture by talking to dozens of parents at the same school. There are not that many English speakers at either schools, so your only option is to walk around La Hulpe quizzing the population as to which schools their children go to and asking them until you have enough views that you could get a bigger view. That is why you should choose on your own personal instincts and also by comparing any differences. If garderie for example is important to you and one has longer garderie hours, then that would be a strong reason to favour one over the other. If one does loads more sport than the other and for you it's important, then again a reason to choose., Le Hulpe is very affluent, I doubt you're going to find a sub-standard level of education at either school. Maybe worth asking where the children end up for secondaire - I bet they both say Trois-Vallées and Berlaymont are the most favoured for parents from both of these schools.
